Knowledge Management in Educational Institutions (Concept – Requirements – Obstacles)

Abstract

This research aims to explore the concepts of knowledge management, identify the requirements necessary for its implementation, and determine the key obstacles hindering its application within educational institutions. Additionally, it seeks to offer recommendations and proposals to help overcome the challenges facing knowledge management in these institutions. The researcher employed the descriptive method to achieve the research objectives.

The research reached the following conclusions:

- Implementing knowledge management requires preparing the educational institution's environment to maximize the utilization of knowledge, fostering an atmosphere that encourages effective knowledge management—specifically its storage, transfer, and application.

- Optimally leveraging technology to acquire and capitalize on knowledge.

- The successful implementation of knowledge management depends on meeting specific organizational, technical, and human requirements, such as supportive leadership, technological infrastructure, and a culture of knowledge sharing. The research also identified several obstacles, including inadequate information systems, a lack of incentives, and insufficient staff training.

The research recommended the following:

-  The necessity of focusing on the role of knowledge management—specifically knowledge generation, storage, distribution, and application—in a manner that effectively enhances organizational performance.

Providing continuous preparation and training for staff in educational institutions regarding information production and the importance of sharing information and expertise with one another
