Abstract

Background: Quality intrapartum nursing care includes both safe practice and women’s experience of communication, privacy, and responsiveness. Objective: To assess perceived nursing care and women’s satisfaction during normal childbirth at Tsawa Hospital. Methods: A descriptive analytical field study was conducted from 19 June 2024 to 19 June 2025. Twenty women completed a five-point response questionnaire; the final analysis included 13 items across nursing-care and satisfaction domains. Overall Cronbach’s alpha was 0.822. Results: Eighty percent agreed or strongly agreed that nursing care was excellent. Positive responses reached 90% for comfort during care, 85% for continuous follow-up, and 85% for respect for women’s rights. Positive responses were lower for the availability of emergency tests and medicines (50%) and food services (35%); 50% gave a negative response regarding food services. The association between the nursing-care and satisfaction domains was not statistically significant (r=0.319, p=0.170). Conclusion: Women reported favourable experiences for most interpersonal aspects of care, while emergency supplies and food services were priority areas for improvement. Findings should be interpreted cautiously because of the small, single-centre sample and self-reported measurement.
