Religious Values in Andalusian Poetry: The Taifa Kings

Abstract

The call to adhere to noble morals and to cling to praiseworthy qualities is a fundamental principle of Islam. Islam had a great role in spreading human virtues and ethical values in Andalusian society. Since the appearance of Islam, religious values spread in the Andalusian regions, and they had a great impact on evaluating and guiding the behavior of society in a correct manner.

One of the reasons for choosing this topic is the frequent use of religious values by Andalusian poets in general, and by the poets of the Taifa Kings in particular. Religious values were divided into three categories: creedal, devotional, and ethical. This study is not the first that dealt with this subject; there are many studies. But what distinguishes this study is that I focused on a period that is considered one of the most beautiful periods of the Andalusian era, which is the era of the Taifa Kings.
