Abstract

The phenomenon of illegal immigration is one of the most complex challenges facing the global community, particularly the United States, which has historically been a primary destination for migrants. This research examines the impact of illegal immigration on U.S. national security by analyzing its underlying motives, including political instability, economic disparities, and environmental crises in home countries. The study employs a descriptive-analytical and historical approach to explore the legal and security frameworks adopted by successive U.S. administrations to manage border control and address the socio-economic and security repercussions of irregular migration. Furthermore, it highlights the international legal instruments and domestic laws governing the rights of migrants while critiquing the humanitarian implications of restrictive policies. The findings suggest that despite stringent measures and legislative interventions, illegal immigration continues to pose significant security and economic challenges, necessitating more comprehensive international cooperation and effective strategies that address the root causes of the phenomenon.
